The Recap:

The 2012 i to i, (Inlet to Inlet Distance Race), race was run December 2, 2012.

Several of the competitors who said they were showing up didn't because of family issues, but even without them, we had 10 show up for the race, just one less than last year.  Again this year there was interest from the upwind / downwind kitesurfing community to participate and two guys showed up, one pretty serious on finishing the race, the other not so.  There were no mishaps launching in the shore break, no break downs so that was awesome, and nobody that retired needed a ride back which was excellent.  Two windsurfers and one kiteboarder did the 23.2 mile course and all three Kona sailors completed the 14.1 mile Kona course, so 6 finished this year.
How did our kite racers do?  Zack Marks led the kiteboarder charge and was ahead at the first mark but the slightly lower angle to weather was too much extra distance to make up at a slightly slower pace, but he did take the bragging rights to be the first kiteboarder to ever finish the race with a fantastic first attempt.

A party at Ron & Sue's followed the return of all the competitors.  Prizes were once again awesome with the sponsors Adventure Sports, Neil Pryde, JPSandy Point Progressive Sports, AerotechExocetLiquid Surf & Sail, offering incredible prizes.  Thanks also to iWindsurf.com for getting the weather sensors up and running to report and forecast the wind conditions.
