2012 I-to-I Recap from Steve Campbell

The I-to-I was a great experience. I was one of the three Kona's
and I had a 6.3 Ezzy wave sail, which was barely enough sail. However,
I almost caught up with Cody at one point. Cody took off from the
start like a bullet. I was even with him at the first buoy, but
then being primarily a lake sailor, I could not keep my balance and had
trouble tacking.
The rest of the race I stayed
behind Cody, but had a blast planing downwind. The Kona seems to
be a very forgiving board in the ocean, plus Ron gave an excellent
shore break and ocean sailing clinic prior to the race, which I found
very helpful.
This is my 3rd I-to-I, the only one
I have ever finished. The Kona's did a shorter course, which made
it more doable on a Kona board. The prizes were great, and I was
thrilled to get a new fin.
Looking forward to next year's race!
