Race Recap by Daniel Borsutzky
They say timing is everything.... I am on a road trip down
from Rhode Island visiting my family for the holidays, and it happens that I
had my Equipe on the roof of my van. My good old friend Joe Waldman told me
about this I-to-I race. It sounded very interesting, so, before I knew it, I
was holding onto the boom for a long 5 1/2 hours.
The best leg was from Port Everglades to Pompano. With a
swell from the SE and a light SW breeze, it was enough to catch some good
rides. Then we had to head upwind but it wasn't as challenging as
dealing with the Coast Guard who followed me for more than 20 minutes, saying
that I was a step away to be handcuffed and arrested because I didn't have a
life jacket, a 360 degree light and I wasn't carrying an ID. It just added a little excitement to a rather boring and lonesome light
wind upwind leg.
I am glad I did it. I had the most fun on a long board
in quit some time.
Thank you Ron for your time and effort to make it happened,
Daniel Borsutzky
Great award ceremony and nice prizes too !!
