2015 I-to-I Recap from Leif Given

With a blurry forecast and unsure if Saturday or Sunday would be windy we set the start for Saturday first possible wind because sunday looked offshore.  Race started at 12:47pm and wind was about 13mph ese and I was the only kiter(hope to see more next year) with three other windsurfers on the start line. From what seemed to be was going to a easy race became more difficult with tennis court sized seaweed forcing changed tactics. After I passed atlantic fishing pier on way back south the wind got light and shifted to the sse which meant a lot of tacking through seaweed.  Then wind died totally and just enough to keep me in the air I waited about ten minutes until a black cloud passed.  Then wind kicked in with gust as high as 16mph with enough to sail back I finished after about 8 more tacks.  Could of been faster but after seeing the wind die and turn west a few minutes later and see the the windsurfers make it back two hrs later, which was impressive in those conditions. it could have been slower too. Then everyone headed back to Rons house for Beer and Pizza and smiling faces with everyone happy to make it back to the beach safely.  Thank you all the sponsors for every prize you donated and help make this happen,  big thanks to Ron Kern for organizing the event. Always looking forward to this race.
